I didn’t know what the Australian fellow practitioners and my family were doing for me.
One day in April, 2003, two months after my father’s visit, two officials with the Guangdong Political and Lawful Committee, accompanied by an official with the Guangzhou Labor Camp Bureau, came to Chatou and told me that, the Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Government Committee had received my father’s letter.
When I told them of the torture, the three people asked me sneeringly instead of apologizing for what their subordinates had done, “Do you still believe in so-and-so (They said my Master’s name) after experiencing this?”
They left hastily, saying there was an emergency.
Several days later, the Third Brigade chief suddenly had me out of Back Yard, “Yiwen Tang! Come do exercises with me! Run! You can run!”
While I could only limp inch by inch painfully, how could I possibly run?!
I didn’t move.
Thereupon she told a guard to take me to the infirmary, where I saw the Labor Camp Bureau official I met several days earlier talking to a middle-aged woman in doctor’s overall, and a man in plain clothes stood beside her.
The official didn’t tell me who the two persons were. The woman and the man just quickly took a few measurements of my feet and legs with a string, asked me how tall I was, took a photo of me, and then dismissed me.
Shortly after that, my father received a letter from the Guangzhou Labor Camp Bureau, stating that forensic examiners had been sent to Chatou to do check-up for me. The Forensic Report attached to the letter stated that I was fine physically and mentally, my legs were fine, and everything about me was normal.
Father didn’t believe them and carried on appealing to the higher authorities.
