近日，歐洲衛星公司的一些舉動令我十分關注。這家擁有美國40%衛星轉播合同的法國衛星公司將在4月15日終止與總部位於紐約的中文媒體新唐人電視台對中國地區的電視播放。新唐人電視台是至今中國民眾可以收看到的唯一的一家不受中國政府審查管制的自由媒體，他以公正，無偏見的態度向中國民眾報導了世界上所發生的事件。

我敦促您盡最大的能力來阻止此事的發生，因為可以收看到不受政府審查管制的公正，自由媒體的節目對所有的中國民眾是十分重要的。您在國會的許多同事都已簽署了聯名信給布什總統，要求他向歐衛施加壓力，以使新唐人繼續在中國播放。我希望您也向總統聯系並表達您對此重要事件的關注。

Dear Senator Schumer/Clinton/Ed/Governer Pataki:

It has recently been brought to my attention that Eutelsat, a French satellite company with over forty percent of the Federal government’s satellite contracts, will discontinue the broadcast of the New York City based Chinese language network New Tang Dynasty TV (NTDTV) to China on April 15th. NTDTV is the only uncensored free media available to the Chinese people, and have an important role in broadcasting non-biased coverage of world events to them.

I urge you to do anything in your power to prevent this from occurring, as it is important to the Chinese people and to the people of this nation that they are able to view a fair and free media in their country, without censorship. Already many of your colleagues in the House have signed on to a letter to President Bush, asking him to pressure Eutelsat to continue their broadcast to China. I hope that you too will contact the President, and express your concerns on this important issue.
