尊敬的胡錦濤閣下
我呼籲您停止對人權律師高智晟的迫害。他是人民的愛國英雄，他為反對貪污和腐敗而戰，他幫助那些貧窮和被剝奪了基本權利的人們。迫害他就等於在攻擊中國自己。
高先生除了維護公民的權利和履行自己做為律師的責任外什麼也沒做。
在他的公開信中，他詳細的描述了在他調查中國對法輪功鎮壓的事件中所發現的殘暴和野蠻，這封信就是對那些受害者的幫助。
儘管在2001年，高律師被評為全國十佳律師，但是中國政府現在卻選擇禁止他的言論自由，並毀掉他的事業。一個能夠親手毀掉自己國家英雄的政府已經喪失了所有的道德標準以及管理一個國家的要求。
高智晟律師親眼目睹了他的同胞被鎮壓和折磨。他在信中描述了對那些擁有和平精神信仰的無辜人群的殘酷折磨。現在高律師受到了他試圖幫助的那些人一樣的待遇。這樣做的目的就是要消磨他的意志，他的精神。
一個真實的好的政府的領導者們應該遵守道德規範，對公民關懷倍至。違反了這一原則，那政府就是一個缺少道德，圖有虛名的政府。
就像高先生在他的信中指出的：
中國是「世界人權宣言」的成員國之一。這個宣言明確指出：「每一個人都有生存，自由和人身安全的權利。」「沒人應該被暴力抓捕，拘留或者是放逐。」「當憲法或法律賦予人們的基本權利受到侵犯時，每個人都有權利通過國家的法庭來尋求有效的幫助。」
在中國當前的憲法33條中寫到：「國家尊重和保護人權。」
我謹代表那些無法自由表達自己心聲的人們呼籲您立即停止對像高智晟先生這樣的無辜人群的迫害。

I call upon you to cease attacking human rights lawyer, Mr. Gao Zhisheng. He is a patriotic hero to his people, fighting corruption and greed and helping the poor and underprivileged. To persecute him is akin to attacking China itself.
Mr. Gao has done nothing other than defending citizen』s rights and fulfilling his duties as a lawyer.
The public letter he wrote detailed the atrocities and barbarism he uncovered while investigating the persecution of Falungong in China was meant to help those that are being victimized.
Despite being honoured as one of the countries 「Ten Best Lawyers」 in 2001, the government now has chosen to try and kill his voice and ruin his career. A regime that attempts to destroy its own heroes is surely one that has lost all sense of morality and the mandate to govern.
Gao Zhisheng personally witnessed the oppression and torture of his fellow citizens. His letter describes the torment and great cruelty inflicted upon innocent people, whose only crime was a peaceful spiritual belief. Now Mr. Gao is being subjected to the same suffering as those who he had tried to assist. He has undergone torture and brainwashing sessions in the hopes of killing his will, his spirit.
A true and good government ought to be one in which the leaders lead by moral example and show kindness to its citizens. Violation of this principle is an indication of the absence of virtue, and then it becomes a government in name only.
As Mr. Gao points out in his letters:
China is one of the member countries of the 「Universal Declaration of Human Rights.」 The declaration has stated explicitly: 「Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.」 「No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile.」 「Everyone has the right to an effective remedy by the competent national tribunals for acts violating the fundamental rights granted him by the constitution or by law.」
Also, in the current constitution of China, article 33 states: 「The State respects and preserves human rights.」
On behalf of those that cannot speak out, I implore you to end the torture and persecution of innocents such as Mr. Gao Zhisheng immediately.
