【大紀元6月8日訊】(美國之音報導) 設在華盛頓的勞改基金會與國際聲援西藏運動、蘭托斯基金會以及共產主義受害者紀念碑基金會合作，6月8日起在華盛頓共同主辦一場有關在西藏勞改營的特別會議。
這個題為“西藏勞改”的會議將以幾位西藏勞改營倖存者提供的證詞為中心，揭示西藏高原上一些最臭名昭著的勞改營。在藏人自焚繼續引發國際關注的同時，這個會議將有機會傾聽有關以勞改作為在西藏鎮壓手段的第一手證詞。

Laogai in Tibet
The Laogai Research Foundation, in conjunction with the International Campaign for Tibet, the Lantos Foundation and the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, is hosting a special conference on China’s forced labor prison camps in Tibet.
The “Laogai in Tibet” conference will focus on testimonies of several Tibetan survivors of the laogai – China’s system of forced labor prison camps, some of the most notorious of which dot the grasslands and valleys of Tibet. As the spate of self-immolations by Tibetans continues to make headlines around the world, this conference will be an opportunity to hear firsthand the use of the laogai as a tool of repression within Tibet as Tibetans’ cultural identity is being systematically suppressed and controlled; and the practice of Tibetan Buddhism has become so politicized and dangerous that reverence of the head of Tibetan Buddhism, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, is regularly punished by imprisonment.
