Chinese Idiom: Being Happy To Have One’s Shortcomings Pointed Out
“Zi Lu, a student of Confucius, was always very happy whenever someone pointed out his shortcomings face to face. The legendary Chinese emperor Yu always sincerely thanked every person who criticized him. The most extraordinary thing about the legendary Chinese emperor Da Sun is that he never held onto his own opinions stubbornly and was always happy to learn from others. That is how he went from being a simple farmhand to Emperor.” (Meng Zi)
“Being happy to have one’s shortcomings pointed out” is now a well-known Chinese idiom.
