Taiwan is among many Asian countries facing the double blow of slowing economic growth and rising inflation.

台湾是在许多亚洲国家之列，同时面临经济成长迟缓与通膨上升的双重打击。

[Liu Chao-shiuan, Taiwan Premier]:

“We are only reflecting the cost of international oil gas prices and to avoid the psychological impact of inflation, the inflation will become effective starting from midnight of May 28.”

台湾阁揆刘兆玄说：“我们仅仅是反映国际油价成本，并且避免涨价的心理冲击，调涨将会自5月28日深夜起升效。”

Economists expected May’s Consumer Price Index to climb by 4.4 percent from a year earlier, higher than April’s figure, and has a current forecast of 2.8 percent for the full year.

经济学家预期五月份消费者物价指数，比四月份的数字高，较去年同期上扬4.4个百分点，目前预测全年的指数是2.8个百分点。

The government will also lift power prices on July 1st.

台湾政府也将在7月1日提高电费价格。
