(//www.tvsmo.com)

Working long hours at the office is so romantic

When it comes to meeting the man or woman of your dreams, the canteen or office water cooler is far better than dating agencies or lonely hearts adverts.
The British habit of working long hours is the best way of finding romance, a survey says. One in five relationships begins over drinks after work or through working late together. One person in 10 meets his or her ideal partner in the canteen.
Lifts are another romantic rendezvous, far better than a nightclub, says the survey conducted for Fish4jobs, the online jobs search service. One person in 100 meets his or her prospective spouse there.
Researchers interviewed 9,000 people aged between 25 and 65 and found that one in four had met their long-term lover at work. This was almost as many who had met their loved ones through friends or relatives (27 per cent).
Prof Robert Edelmann, a psychologist, said: “Longer hours mean that the workplace provides a major opportunity for us to meet others. People in the same environment often share interests as well as certain characteristics.”
The top 10 industries in which workers are said to be single are: the arts (60 per cent), entertainment (55), architecture (48), hotels and restaurants (46), marketing (46), administration (45), teaching (44), information technology (44), legal (44) and banking and finance (44).
The sectors with the highest proportion of single men are hotels and restaurants, banking, sales, retail and information technology.
More than four in 10 single women are said to work in administration, management consultancy, the arts or the legal profession.
Prof Edelmann had a word or two of advice: the key to successful long-term relationships that start at work was “never going out with someone for promotion”.(//www.dajiyuan.com)
