The state-controlled Catholic Church in China has ordained a bishop, despite objections from the Vatican.

It was the Chinese regime’s first ordination without the Pope’s approval in nearly five years.

On Saturday, Reverend Guo Jincai was ordained at the Pingquan Church in Chengde City, in northern Hebei Province. The event was carried out under heavy security, with police blocking reporters.
