In the CCP-ruled mainland China, a student would be defined as “excellent” as long as he got high marks in exams, and an adult would be considered “successful” as long as he made big money; that person’s moral elements were utterly out of consideration.
Upon studying Dafa, I strongly realized that such evil values had been rapidly pushing the entire Chinese society into a more and more corrupt situation. Therefore, I made it a point of imparting moral values while teaching English.
An ancient Chinese sage said, “A man originally has compassionate nature.” I believed that everyone had the aspiration of pursuing Truth and benevolence in the depths of his heart. When I imparted my students the moral values which Dafa had taught me through telling stories in English or other interesting methods, they were all enthralled.
Even a little good deed and a little kind thought of my students would be sincerely praised by me.
Sometimes I would ask my students upon having four periods of my class on end, “Do you feel tired?” They always replied cheerfully, “Not at all!”
“Miss, I never believed in gods or goddesses, but every time I listen to your lecture, I feel like I’m listening to a goddess.” “Miss, every time I attend your class, my heart is purified.” “Miss, I don’t know why: I always fell like crying while being in your class.”
When I saw my students becoming more and more polite, honest, kindhearted, and helpful, the immense happiness my heart felt was beyond words.
One morning, as I walked into the classroom, I found the chair by the podium was missing; as I walked into the classroom once again after a ten-minute recess, I saw a chair was already there by the podium. I asked in surprise, “Who has been so considerate as to bring the chair to your teacher?” The entire class was silent. “Please tell your teacher, class! Who has been so considerate? ”
A thin boy nodded slightly.
“Albert, thank you so much! I really appreciate it! Could you please tell me from where you fetched the chair?”
“From the staff office…”
From the classroom where we were having class to the staff office, it took me fifteen minutes to walk; at that time it was burning hot midsummer with baking sunlight, stepping outdoors was like stepping into a baking oven.
“Albert, you ran all the way to the staff office to fetch your teacher the chair in such a baking sunlight within the ten minutes of recess?!”
The boy shyly nodded a bit.
I was so moved I wanted to cry.
