It started 21 years ago at the home of a garlic lover.

“[I decided to have] a little garlic picnic in our front yard and in my herb garden, so anyway I just sent out an invitation through my newsletter to… sent to about a 100 people, I guess, and that day the people started coming, and they came, and they came, and they came…”

“I would say in the second festival people started calling me the Goddess of Garlic, so it stuck, at least during the garlic festival.”

With the help of the Kiwanis Club, the event has grown to be the biggest garlic festival in New York.

“So I went to the Kiwanis Club, and asked them if they would be interested in this event… and so that’s how this festival started.”
