Anchor: NTD’s first International Chinese Culinary Competition wrapped up last week. And it’s still being praised by members of the culinary profession. NTD caught up with the owner of one of Hong Kong’s most prestigious restaurants to hear what he had to say.

STORY:The Hsu Rongxuan restaurant is a well-known seafood establishment in Hong Kong. Its head chef , Oyang Zhinhui, has more than 30 years experience in the business. He believes NTD’s International Chinese Culinary Competition is a good opportunity to share the secrets of the trade .

[Oyang Zhinhui, Hsu Rongxuan Restaurant]:“By looking to others, we can strive for perfection. It is good to learn from others and to improve . I want to give it a try for the next competition.” Zhinhui says cooking should be done from the heart.

[Oyang Zhinhui, Hsu Rongxuan Restaurant]: “I am glad if people enjoy the food I cooked. I like to see people eating–personally I am not a person who really likes to eat–but I get great enjoyment out of seeing my customers finish a dish I have made.”
敘榕軒餐廳歐陽敬輝說:「如果人們喜歡我煮的食物,我就很高興,我喜歡看著別人吃,我個人不喜歡吃東西,但是我非常喜歡看我的客人把我做的菜吃光光。」

Zhinhui says that Cantonese cuisine emphasizes traditional flavors and sauces. He prepared a seafood feast for us, including a delicious cheese lobster–rich in flavor but not greasy . This dish is the hundred-flowered grilled seafood, made by cooking fresh shrimp that is soaked with fresh crab.
敬輝說廣東菜強調傳統的口味和醬料,他準備了一道海鮮,包括美味的起司龍蝦,美味但不油膩,這道菜是百花烤海鮮,由新鮮的蝦子浸泡新鮮螃蟹烹煮。

The executive manager of the Hsu Rongxuan restaurant, He Yaoji, was also excited to hear about the competition. “The competition exalts Chinese cuisine and Chinese culinary art”, he said.
敘榕軒餐廳的執行經理何耀吉聽到這項比賽也很興奮,他說:「這個比賽提升了中國烹飪及中國廚藝。」敘榕軒餐廳的經理何耀吉說。
