Anchor: Bicycles are not the most popular form of transport in most areas around the world. But still, quite a few people from all over use a bicycle as their primary way of getting around. NTD’s Melbourne reporter, Daniel Cameron, shows us a few reasons as to why some people ride bicycles.

STORY: The worry of cars being an increasing liability is not an uncommon one. Fuel prices are ever rising, and sometimes it seems that the public transport is quicker. So, some people have taken another option.
新聞內容:大家都在擔心汽車持續增加,油價也一直上漲,而且有時大眾運輸似乎更快,所以,有些人就有另外的選擇。
[Johan Nilsson, Dish Washer]: “Instead of driving a car and looking for a park, I can ride my bike and park it anywhere”.

Of course, saving money on fuel may not be the only reason, nor may it even be a reason why people ride bikes.
當然,節省油錢可能不是人們騎腳踏車唯一的理由,甚至根本不是理由。
[Jenny Macpherson, BV Ride Coordinator]: “There’s plenty of benefits, obviously for commuting purposes, saving money, riding from work or to school, helps keep you fit. It’s a good way to socialize with friends.”

Sometimes distance may be an issue, however, most people from most areas can benefit from using a bike. Whether it be for pleasure and enjoyment, health and fitness, filling in time, or it being a practical method for getting to an fro, A to B, bicycles have such an advantage.
然而,距離有時可能是個問題,但大部分地區的人都可從騎腳踏車得到好處,不管是快樂或享受、健康或健身、填補空閒,或當作往返的實際方法,腳踏車就是有好處。

[Jenny Macpherson, BV Ride Coordinator]: “There’s bike paths everywhere in Melbourne”. It’s just a great way for families to get out and ride and not having to worry about the traffic“.

‘Bicycle Victoria,’ also known as ‘BV’ was established in 1975. BV is a self-funded community organization and is owned collectively by all it’s Members.
維多利亞單車協會就是大家熟知的BV,成立於一九七五年,是個自籌經費的社區組織,由所有會員擁有共同經營。

“The bicycle Victoria motto is; More people cycling more often”.).

Though cars may be freedom for one person, bicycles are freedom for another.
