那麼在紐約當警察，有時會在爭執事件中作為一名裁判，有時會擔任政府各項規定的詮釋者的角色。有民眾想不開時，作為人民保姆的警察必須善意的開導他；當成功地打擊犯罪活動時，人民會把你視為英雄。

因此在紐約當警察，不同的時侯，會有不同的角色扮演，生活是非常豐富的，端看不同的日子，會發生不同的事。Depends on也就是Rely on，依賴，視…而定。

警察的工作其實蠻危險的，他們必須在第一時間內出現在事件發生的現場，這是他們的責任，但同時也是他們的權利。許多民眾很難接觸到新聞現場，但作為警察卻有權在第一線上自由走動，好像是買了一張劇院裡的前排票，並且還不是普通的表演，在紐約上演的都是世界級的大秀啊！

瞧，在梅西感恩節大遊行中，「買了前排票」的紐約警察！他倆多麼悠遊自在啊，David老師卻只能在封鎖線外擠在茫茫人海中！

RECRUIT是to enlist，「招募」的意思。NYPD是New York Police Department的縮寫字，紐約警察局，在紐約這倒是個重要的縮寫字，其實在世界也是如此，因為許多電影是以紐約為背景，少不了會出現NYPD。

Used to, 過去習慣於；that didn’t have a lot of mobility…..這是一個that所引導的形容詞子句，修飾company，that是關係代名詞，代表先行詞company，在形容詞子句中作為主詞。Decent是一個很好的形容詞，意思是socially acceptable or good社會上可以接受的或好的，如a decent wage，一份還不錯的薪資，a decent standard of living, 還不錯的生活水平。
